How to Choose the Right Electrical Panel for Your Project

How to Choose the Right Electrical Panel for Your Project

In most projects, choosing an electrical panel is reduced to width and height. In reality, the right choice is made by evaluating many variables together — from the environment the panel will be installed in to the equipment it will carry, from the way it is accessed to future capacity increases.

Define the operating environment first

Different conditions such as indoor, open-air, production facility or technical room change the requirements for body structure, paint system, gasket and protection class. Dust, moisture, water contact, temperature and chemical agents should be clarified at the start of the project.

Plan layout and capacity together

Besides the list of equipment to be placed in the panel, cable bending radii, busbar layout, ventilation and service clearances are also important. A panel designed to be completely full on day one may fall short with a small capacity increase. Leaving suitable reserve space makes later additions easier.

Wall-mounted or floor-standing?

Wall-mounted panels offer a practical solution for compact applications, while floor-standing panels stand out in projects requiring higher equipment capacity and modular expansion. Pult type operating desks can be preferred according to how the operator works, and outdoor type solutions for external applications.

Do not neglect technical documentation

Clearly stating dimensions, door direction, cable entry areas and accessories in the project documentation reduces uncertainty in the production and installation process. In addition to standard product options, Anpa Panel offers custom-made solutions whose dimensions and equipment are adapted to the project.
